September Events
We hope you all had an enjoyable and successful Mersea week, and many thanks to the Mersea Week Committee for keeping it all together in the face of some challenging weather conditions. Here is a short video from the Dinghy and MFOB courses taken by Ed from the Committee Boat
Heritage Classics Racing - 7th Sept
On Saturday the 7th Sept the club will host a sailing event featuring the Classic fleets of Smacks, Bumkins and MFOBs. The event will include MFOB racing starting and finishing using the club finishing line and will conclude with a prize giving on the lawn late afternoon. The House Committee have organised live music and food to support the event.
Autumn Regatta - 14th/15th Sept
The competitive keel boat racing is not over yet, and entry to the Autumn Regatta on 14th/15th Sept is open online and via the club noticeboard. The event is a mini series of three races with the Autumn Trophy (LH) and the Finola Cup (WS) up for grabs. We already have a few entries, and as this is the last event of the year we are hoping for a good turn out. If you are already committed to participating, please formally enter as it encourages other skippers to join in. Details and SIs are available online.
Round Mersea Island Race - 21st Sep
For those members participating in dinghy sailing, the Round Mersea Island Race is being held on 21st Sept. This is a bit later in the season than normal, but the date was driven by the need for an exceptionally high tide. Entry is open online and currently the number of entries is encouraging.
If you are not racing, but wish to get involved there are the usual volunteer roles required to support the race, again, book online or contact any member of the Sailing Committee. We particularly require people to assist with the starting, finishing and administration tasks on the lawn.
